Stay ahead of the curve by preparing for success

Mountain climbing is a sport that requires careful forethought, appropriate gear as well as physical and intellectual preparation. Acclimatization prevents insomnia and ensures motivation and fitness. At high altitude, where the weather can shift in an instant, waiting for the best conditions can make the difference between life and death. Mistakes resulting can be deadly.

Deviations from our habits can be taxing. The diagnosis of a terminal disease, loss of a loved one may take a long time to fully accept. Adjusting to personal and career changes requires saving money, intellectual or physical training, planning, and forethought. Even winning the lottery or getting a promotion takes a psychological adjustment. Do not let the sense of inadequacy derail your plans.

Summiting Mount Everest is a significant challenge. Likewise, life’s significant changes require many months or even years of intellectual development. In sports, music, and the arts, years of preparation produces a professional performance. That preparation effectively reformulates the mind. Performing at a high level in any field requires confidence, which takes time to build.

ACCLIMATIZATION Acclimatizing to your field of interest is a time-consuming but essential step. Without proper preparation, insufficient confidence will demoralize and collapse your ambitions. Start big projects slowly and increase your confidence by accomplishing simple tasks. Experiencing failure uncovers the areas that need more work. Like ascending a high mountain, gradual advancement allows you to adopt the mindset and habits of your field. For example, writers must get into the habit of writing regularly, preferably every day. Artists must set aside time to sketch daily.

Schools' curriculums develop professional and personal confidence gradually. When graduates receive their diploma, students suddenly become doctors, engineers, or teachers. Faith in their expertise is supplied on a piece of paper with nice lettering and the signatures of influential people. The many small victories of achievement over years of hard work gradually transformed the temporal field, which allows the confidence of an expert at the time of graduation.

My straightforward handbook, The Power of Joy, gives you the tools and advice you need to become the best version of yourself.

How to prepare for change

The importance of goals in achievement

A goal act as a little compass that operates in our lives even without conscious intentions.  Accomplishments toward them produce positive feelings because it makes goals seem immediate and approachable. When you solve a puzzle, get a joke or win the game, the mind takes ‘hold’ of the object. On the other hand, negative sentiments create a sense of postponement, a never-ending time trap.

A goal is like a glistening faraway mountain, promising and approachable, but do not let it mislead you. Big goals, like big mountains, are challenging to conquer. Climbers, who wish to the ascent of Mount Everest, must develop stamina, determination, and discipline. Likewise, achieving a goal is as much a mindset as the visible trappings of success. Working for a purpose reformulates the mind, which then manifests those goals. Because significant changes require substantial intellectual upgrading, expect to work at it for a long, long time. Small, but persistent changes in thinking and behavior are the most powerful ways to move the mind out of its periodicity and achieve transformation.

COMPOUND INTEREST Dreams are the products of youthful optimism, paper tigers of a mirage, crowded with fancy details of the imagination. Goals solidify ideas, turning them into the realities of the future. Have discipline in visualizing the essence of your aim; this allows you to recognize the necessary steps to get there. Goals are like a compass, which focuses energies toward the future. Goal orientation supplies appropriate attitude, confidence, and keeps spiritual independence against disturbances. Focusing on future regulates motivation, thoughts, and behavior at all times, even in sleep. Because food, water, muscle strength, memory capacity, and ability to focus are not instantly expandable, biological systems always have to contend with limited energy supply and the necessity to budget. Our life lasts until the next breath, next rain or the next meal. Cacti or camels prepare for the future by storing water in the desert, many mammals grow fat and thick fur before winter, and humans save emergency funds against misfortunes.

My straightforward handbook, The Power of Joy, gives you the tools and advice you need to liberate yourself from your negativity and become the best version of yourself. Now you can find it on Amazon.
